January 2021 - Covid Vaccinations Update
We just wanted to let you know that the Practice has just received its first batch of 100 doses of the Astra Zeneca Covid-19 vaccine.
Hopefully by the time you read this (12th January 2021, we will have vaccinated our first cohort of 100 patients in the most vulnerable group of over 80 year olds.
We have been advised that we will get a further 50 doses later this week and will continue to vaccinate our patients in the over 80 age group as and when we receive further vaccines from the Health Board. Once we have vaccinated all patients within this cohort, we will move onto the next cohort in line with Welsh Government’s strategy of vaccinating the most vulnerable groups first.
The Practice understands that you are anxious to receive the vaccine as soon as possible. As a Practice we are committed to vaccinate patients as quickly as possible in the safest manner and in accordance with the Welsh Government’s strategy for vaccinated those patients who are in the most vulnerable of groups. Cardiff & the Vale of Glamorgan University Health Board are working closely with all GP Practices to ensure that they receive supplies of vaccines as quickly and efficiently as possible, and our aim is to vaccinate patients in vulnerable groups as a matter of urgency.
The Practice will contact you to attend the surgery for your vaccination. Please note that this may often be at short notice. It is important that when contacted by the surgery you confirm that your attendance at the time specified. When attending the surgery for the vaccination, you will be given a card confirming the date and type of vaccine you have received (in this case, the Astra Zeneca vaccine), together with a patient information leaflet for you to read and keep as a reference. Please DO NOT contact the surgery asking for the vaccination as we must follow published government guidance.
It would be a great help to the Practice in this venture, if you could ensure that we have an up to date telephone number for you to ensure that we are able to contact you to offer you an appointment hopefully in the not too distant future.
